First steps to start an effective marketing plan to propel your business forward

Do you know where you get your followers from? This is a very important question to answer. You need to know where your customers come from so that you can set up a marketing plan that you can use time and time again. You want to set your marketing plan up so that you can rinse and repeat your marketing without having to recreate the wheel each time. One major problem with ineffective marketing plans is to market to the wrong audience and in the wrong place.

Marketing is one of the most important aspects of any business. It can be very costly if you spend time and money on marketing to the wrong audience. The first basic question to answer with any marketing is who is my customer. Do you know how to answer that question?

No matter what social media platform you have you followers on, you need to spend time identifying where your customers found you and what they have in common. Let’s take for example Facebook, are you doing lives on your page or posting in groups in your industry? Have you spent time studying your insights page on Facebook? Do you know what you can learn from your insights page?

You can find your insights on your panel on Facebook for your business page, as seen above. This is an area you want to visit regularly so that you can start to identify who your customer is and what need or problem they have.

There is a wealth of knowledge waiting for you on your insights page. You can find out how your engagement is doing, how many page followers you are getting, and what they have in common. You can adjust any categories time frame to see the trend over time.

You can find out where your followers are coming from so that you know where to effectively spend your time and resources. Trying to make a marketing plan without the full picture is like making a cake without a recipe. It can be done but you will spend a lot of time and energy to find the right ingredients.

You can also find out information about your followers such as their gender, age, and country of origin.  What time of day they are on your page. They are vital components to know when you should post and who to target.

This is the information you need to gather and follow to make an effective marketing plan. You would want to know where to direct your marketing to be most effective and who to target at what time of day.  All platforms have insights, spend some time getting to know your customer using the free insights available to you. Knowing who your customer helps you make effective marketing plans and helps you identify what will sell and propel your business forward.

Once you have identified your customer you can start the process of gaining your customer’s trust. Customers buy from who they know, like and trust, Effective marketing includes identifying with your customer and solving a problem or fulfilling a need they have. If you can gain their trust and fill that need you will have a loyal customer that will come back time and time again.

Hello Lori, to say I am a recent and admirable follower of yours would be an under-statement. I have just recently discovered your YouTube presence and have been viewing with great interest. I saw your copyright and trademark presentation and have a question. First, with October being breast cancer awareness Month. I went to Dollar Tree and purchased several scarves with the breast cancer awareness ribbon symbol in various shades of pink. I also purchased a Dollar Tree witch hat form and created a breast cancer awareness hat using the Dollar Tree form and the breast cancer awareness scarf. In addition, I decorated the hat form with deco mesh and other breast cancer awareness symbols from the Dollar Tree. My question is, can I sell this newly-created breast cancer awareness hat/wreath at a craft fair or consignment shop or will I be in violation of trademark and or copyright laws? I sincerely appreciate your skill, knowledge and ability with all that you have shown me and look forward to hearing from you.
    Sincerely, Kathleen Lyon

Absolutely I already have someone in my group in the UK so yes the training is online and can be done at your pace. I have calls twice a week that can be joined from your computer so it is free. The time difference would make it later for you but not bad. I am glad you are going to follow your dream

    Hi Lori,
My name is Pat, I have been making wreaths for about 3 years now, selling to friends and family. I recently retired and would like to start a business making and selling wreaths. I do not have any social media presence, and I really don’t know how to get started. I have invested in a some tools. I signed up for my first craft show for March. I am very nervous about trying to create a business. When does your business group meet, and what time does your Monday group meet. I wanted to join, but I have rehearsal on Mondays at 7:30. I have so many questions and I want to make sure I don’t get in trouble with the IRS..

Hey Patricia my business group training is prerecorded so you can watch at anytime. The zoom calls are twice a week so you would have lots of chances to get on and ask questions. The calls are Tuesday and Sunday afternoon. The Monday live is for the design group and it is at 9PM EST. You do want to do it the correct way and I can certainly help with that
