While you’re stuck inside on a rainy day, what better to do than get crafty! Get inspired and bring the gloomy weather indoors with these fun rainy day crafts for kids.
Clouds and Rain Windsock
Supplies Needed:
- blue construction paper
- cotton balls
- blue or white yarn
- pipe cleaner
- scissors
- hole punch
- glue
- tape
Start by cutting your yarn into 1 or 2-foot sections and cut raindrop shapes from light blue pieces of construction paper. To create the clouds, separate cotton balls, and glue them into cloud shapes on a piece of construction paper. Roll the paper into a tube and secure it with tape. Use a hole punch to punch holes into the bottom of the windsock and run pieces of yarn through the holes and tie. Lastly, glue raindrops to the ends of the yarn. Make these pieces of yarn different lengths for more dimension!
Raindrop Suncatchers
Supplies Needed:
- Blue crayons
- Pencil or crayon sharpener
- Waxed paper
- Iron (for adult use only)
- Scissors
Begin by peeling the paper off of different shades of blue crayons. Once the crayons are peeled, it’s time to sharpen them. Let the kids help sharpen the crayons onto a sheet of wax paper and spread them evenly. Use another sheet of wax paper to lay on top of the shavings and a quick swipe of an iron will melt the shavings. Once dried and cooled cut raindrop shapes out of the paper! Use a hole punch and embroidery floss to hang into your windows!
Paper Umbrellas
Supplies Needed:
- Cupcake liners
- Pipe Cleaners
- Blue Construction Paper
- Blue Paint Markers
Begin by cutting pipe cleaners in half to use as your umbrella handles. Push the pipe cleaner through the middle of the cupcake liner and fold the liner in half to create the umbrella! Glue onto blue construction paper and place blue paint dots all over the page to resemble raindrops!
