3 Easy Steps To Make A Salt Dough Christmas Garland

What’s better than handmade Christmas decor to look back on as memories?

This craft is super simple and can be personalized in so many ways! Check out these 3 easy steps to make a salt dough Christmas garland.

Supplies Needed:

  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 cup Salt
  • ½ cup Water
  • Christmas Cookie Cutters
  • Twine

To begin making the salt dough, begin by mixing together the flour, salt, and water. Once it is mixed well remove it from the container and knead it on the table.

Next, roll out the dough to ¼ inch. You may want to use plenty of flour to ensure the dough doesn’t stick.

Use your chosen cookie cutters to create shapes and place them on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.

Use a toothpick or skewer to make a hole in the top as a place to thread your twine to hang.

After this, I set my oven to 150 degrees and baked the salt dough for about 2 hours.

Make sure there are no wet or soft spots in the dough before you remove from oven.

To decorate get the little ones together and create tiny hand and footprint impressions before they are placed in the oven. Painting them after they cool would be a great idea too!

Let cool completely before touching!

Lastly, thread your shapes on a piece of twine with knots in between to separate.

Enjoy!
