How to Make a Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath with Beautiful Florals
A Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath with Florals is a beautiful way to decorate for Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Veterans Day, summer parties, or everyday Americana decor. This wreath combines a patriotic sign, deco mesh, bold red, white, and blue florals, textured greenery, and an optional statement bow. The result is full, festive, and eye-catching without needing a huge wreath base.
For this project, I used a 20-inch evergreen wreath base and made it look larger by placing a large patriotic sign slightly toward the outside edge. This trick helps stretch the design visually and gives the wreath more presence. The florals are placed mainly on one side of the wreath, creating a gorgeous asymmetrical look that frames the sign beautifully.

Instructions
Start by fluffing your evergreen wreath base. Pull the branches outward and separate them so the wreath looks full before you add anything. Even though this design uses a 20-inch base, you can make it appear larger by shaping the wreath well and extending your sign, greenery, and florals slightly beyond the edge.
Next, attach your patriotic sign. Place the sign off to one side instead of directly in the center. For this wreath, the sign was positioned toward the outside edge so it gave the illusion of a larger wreath. Tuck a few evergreen branches around the sign to help support it, then secure it tightly with the wire or pipe cleaners attached to the back of the sign. Make sure it does not slide inward because you want it to stay slightly extended.
Once the sign is secure, add a little deco mesh. Cut small pieces of mesh, around 15 inches long, and create simple messy ruffles. You do not need a lot of mesh for this design. The mesh is mainly used to add color, fill in space, and create a patriotic background behind the florals. Tuck the mesh pieces into the wreath base and secure them with the evergreen branches or pipe cleaners.
Now begin adding greenery. Greenery is important because it creates the base for your florals and gives the design a more natural, high-end look. Start with bead bush or boxwood and cut the stems into smaller sections. Place the greenery around the side where your florals will be featured. Use hot glue on the stems before inserting them into the evergreen base.
Add different shades and textures of greenery for depth. Boxwood gives structure, bead bush adds movement, and eucalyptus brings in a softer look. Spread the greenery out so it does not look clumped in one area. Some pieces should point upward, some outward, and some downward. This helps the design feel natural instead of flat.
After the basic greenery is in place, add patriotic filler stems. Red, white, and blue filler flowers are a great way to bring in color without using too many large florals. Filler stems are usually more affordable than large flowers, so they help stretch your supplies while still making the wreath look full. Place red filler in a few areas, then add blue filler nearby so the colors balance each other.
Blue eucalyptus is especially pretty in a patriotic wreath because it brings in rich blue tones while still feeling floral and natural. Cut the blue eucalyptus into smaller sections and spread it throughout the design. Let some pieces extend outward so they add movement. This is a great way to bring in darker blue without overwhelming the wreath with too much red.
Next, add your larger focal flowers. Red carnation-style flowers work beautifully for patriotic designs because they are bold, classic, and full. Cut the stems to a workable length, add glue, and place them slightly lifted off the base. Since the greenery and fillers are not pressed flat, your focal flowers should not be pushed too far down either. Let them sit forward so they become true pops of color.
Add white florals around the red flowers to brighten the design and help frame the sign. Place some white flowers close to the sign and others along the floral side of the wreath. This keeps the patriotic color palette balanced. If you have blue florals or blue filler, add those throughout the wreath as well, especially near red areas, so the red, white, and blue colors feel evenly distributed.
Step back and look for holes. If one area feels empty, use leftover bead bush, eucalyptus, or small filler pieces to fill it in. Do not overfill the wreath. You still want the sign to stand out and the florals to have room to breathe.
A bow is optional for this design. The wreath may already look complete with the sign and florals, but a patriotic bow can be made separately and added if desired. To make a large bow, layer several ribbons in red, white, and blue. Use longer loops at the bottom, slightly smaller loops toward the top, and finish with a small ribbon in the center. Curl or dovetail the tails for a polished look.
You can attach the bow directly to the wreath or sell it separately as a matching mailbox bow, door bow, or tree topper. If adding it to the wreath, place it where it complements the florals without covering the sign.
The finished Patriotic Deco Mesh Wreath with Florals is festive, full, and beautiful for summer decorating. The large sign creates the focal point, the mesh adds patriotic color, and the florals bring softness and charm. This is a wonderful design for your front door, craft booth, handmade shop, or seasonal home decor.
