Finding Balance with Real-Life Time Management Tips
Being a mom is already a full-time job — add running a business on top of that, and it can feel like you’re juggling flaming torches while walking on a tightrope. Trust me, I get it. I’m a mom, a caregiver, a crafter, and a business owner — and over the years, I’ve learned that balance isn’t about doing it all perfectly. It’s about being intentional with your time, giving yourself grace, and building routines that work for you.
So if you’re dreaming of building a business while raising a family, here are some tips that have helped me manage both without losing my mind (or my passion).
đź’ˇ 1. Set Realistic Expectations
Let’s get honest for a second — you don’t need to do everything in one day. You don’t have to be a Pinterest-perfect mom and a six-figure business owner at the same time.
Instead of aiming for perfection, focus on progress. Set weekly goals instead of daily ones. Break projects into small chunks. Celebrate every win, no matter how small.
đź“… 2. Time Block Like a Boss

One of the best time management tools I’ve ever used is time blocking — assigning certain blocks of time to specific tasks.
Here’s an example:
- 7–9 AM: Family time, breakfast, getting kids ready
- 9–11 AM: Business admin – emails, orders, shipping
- 1–3 PM: Content creation or craft time
- 8–9 PM: Social media engagement or learning (after the house is quiet!)
Even if life throws you a curveball (which it will), time blocking gives your day structure — and your brain some peace.
🧺 3. Combine Tasks When You Can
- Record a quick product tutorial while making your order
- Brainstorm blog topics while waiting in the pickup line
- Listen to a business podcast while doing laundry or dishes
Multitasking isn’t always ideal, but when it’s mindless + meaningful, it can work wonders.
✍️ 4. Use a Planner (Digital or Paper!)

Don’t trust your brain to remember everything — it’s already juggling enough!
Use a planner to:
- Prioritize daily tasks
- Track appointments, due dates, and launches
- Brain dump ideas when you’re in creative mode
I personally love using color-coded planners to separate family, business, and content tasks — it keeps my world from spinning off its axis.
🙋‍♀️ 5. Ask for Help (and Accept It!)
You don’t have to do it all alone. Ask your kids to help pack orders. Delegate a few household chores. Hire help in your business when you can — even if it’s just a virtual assistant for a few hours a week.
And don’t forget: community matters. Join Facebook groups, follow encouraging creators, and connect with other women who get what it’s like to build something while raising little humans.
💞 6. Protect Your “Me Time”
Yes, I said it. Even a 15-minute coffee break, a walk outside, or a quiet moment to breathe can recharge your soul.
You are the heart of your family and your business — and that heart needs rest to keep going strong.
🚀 You’ve Got This
Building a business while raising a family isn’t easy, but it is possible. And you don’t have to do it all at once. With a little planning, a lot of grace, and a clear purpose, you can create a life and business you love — on your own terms.
