How to Make a Spring/Summer Pink Rose Deco Mesh Wreath
How to Make a Spring/Summer Pink Rose Deco Mesh Wreath
A Spring/Summer Pink Rose Deco Mesh Wreath is the perfect cheerful design for a front door, porch, craft booth, or handmade shop. This wreath uses an evergreen base, two shades of pink deco mesh, pretty rose ribbon, coordinating ribbon tails, a faux stained glass-style sign, and beautiful light pink and hot pink roses. The finished wreath is soft, feminine, full, and perfect for spring or summer decorating.
This design is also a great example of how to stretch your supplies. By using extra rose leaves throughout the wreath, you can make the flowers look like they are growing naturally through the mesh without needing a large amount of florals. The leaves add fullness, texture, and a more realistic garden feel.

Instructions
Start by fluffing your evergreen wreath base. Pull the evergreen branches up and outward so the wreath has shape and dimension. Since this wreath will be covered with deco mesh, ribbon, a sign, and florals, you do not have to spend a lot of time making every branch perfect. The evergreen base works especially well for this project because it gives you places to tie in mesh, attach ribbon, and glue florals securely.
Next, prepare your deco mesh. For this wreath, use two colors: light pink and hot pink. Cut each mesh color into 25-inch pieces. You will need about 10 pieces of each color, although you can cut extra in case you want to fill in more areas. Longer 25-inch pieces help the wreath look fuller and make it easier to spread the mesh across the base.
Create messy ruffles with the mesh. Take one piece of mesh, tuck the two cut edges under, and gather it up the middle with your hands. Tucking the edges under helps hide fraying and keeps the wreath looking cleaner. The messy ruffle method is quick, easy, and gives the wreath a soft, full look.
Begin adding the ruffles to the evergreen base. Start at the top with one color, then move to the opposite side with the other color. Alternate light pink and hot pink as you go around the wreath. Tie each ruffle in using the evergreen branches or wreath ties. Spread the ruffles out as you place them so they begin coloring up the base and filling in the shape.
Continue adding ruffles until the wreath looks round and full. You do not have to fill every single space tightly because the ribbons, sign, roses, and leaves will add more coverage later. If any mesh edges stick out, simply trim them instead of trying to rearrange the whole piece.
Once the mesh is in place, make your bow. Use coordinating ribbons such as rose ribbon, pink and white polka dot ribbon, green and white stripe ribbon, and pink and white stripe ribbon. Start with a longer tail, around 28 inches, and make six-inch loops on your bow maker. Layer the ribbons so the colors and patterns complement one another. A rose ribbon looks beautiful on top because it ties the whole design together.
If you are using patterned ribbon, do not be intimidated. Make the full loop first, then flip the entire loop so the pattern faces the correct direction. The important thing is to flip the whole loop, not just part of it. This helps both sides of the bow look neat and consistent.
Secure the bow with a zip tie. Before tightening it completely, spread the ribbons out so they are already going in the direction you want. Tighten the zip tie, then fluff one side of the bow at a time. Twist the loops back and forth gently to loosen any ribbon that is stuck in the center. This helps create a full, fluffy bow.
Attach the bow to one side of the wreath by running a zip tie or pipe cleaner through the frame. Place it securely, but do not pull so tightly that the bow gets smashed. Arrange the tails so they flow naturally into the wreath. You can pinch longer tails and tie them into the wreath ties to create a soft looped effect.
Next, attach your sign across from the bow. Use a metal hole punch to make holes in the top and bottom of the sign. Thread 26-gauge wire through the holes and twist the ends to secure. A weaving needle makes it easy to guide the wire through the mesh and down to the frame. Tie the sign to the frame so it sits on top of the mesh instead of smashing it down. You should still be able to slide your hand underneath the sign slightly.
After the sign is attached, add ribbon tails around the wreath. Cut coordinating ribbon tails, dovetail the ends, fold each pair in half, pinch the center, and tie them into open spaces using the evergreen ties. Spread the tails apart so the patterns show. This helps carry the ribbon colors around the entire design.
Now it is time to add the roses. Cut apart your light pink and hot pink roses, leaving enough stem to glue into the evergreen base. Before adding each flower, place a rose leaf nearby. Glue the leaf first, then tuck the rose slightly behind or above it so it looks like the flower is growing out of the wreath. Alternate light pink and hot pink roses so the colors are balanced.
Continue adding leaves throughout the wreath, even in places where you do not add flowers. This is a great trick because real rose bushes have more leaves than flowers. The extra leaves make the wreath look fuller and more natural without using tons of roses. Add a few leaves into the bow area as well so the bow feels incorporated into the floral design.
Finish by checking the wreath from the front. If you see open spots, add more leaves or a small rose. Make sure the sign is visible, the bow is fluffy, and the roses are evenly spread. The finished wreath should look soft, full, and garden-inspired with beautiful shades of pink throughout.
This Spring/Summer Pink Rose Deco Mesh Wreath is a gorgeous seasonal design that can be used for spring, summer, Mother’s Day, birthdays, or everyday front door decor. It is bright, romantic, and easy to customize with different flower colors, signs, or ribbon patterns.
