Summer Home Maintenance Checklist

So you’ve done your Spring cleaning this year, but home maintenance is a year-round duty. Check out these tasks for smooth sailing around your home this Summer.

  1. Ceiling Fan Directions

Ceiling fans have directional switches to help you get the most benefit based on the season. During the hot months, a ceiling fan should rotate counterclockwise pulling the warm air up while during the cooler months a ceiling fan should rotate clockwise.

  1. Replace AC filters

Air conditioning filters should be replaced every season. Notice your house isnt keeping as cool as it should, replace the AC filters for efficiency.

  1. Clean Rugs

Summer is a great season to air out those home rugs! If you plan on washing them, the sun is a fast way to dry and deotorize them.

  1. Inspect Sprinkler System for Leaks

Make sure the heads and hoses are free from damage. A leaky sprinkler system could result in a hefty water bill and dead plants!

  1. Install Window Screens

If you didn’t do this during Spring, installing them now can prevent you from using your AC as much and fill your home with a nice Summer breeze.

  1. Inspect Your Deck or Patio

Inspect your deck or patio for loose boards or protruding nails. After you powerwash this season be sure to do these easily forgotten tasks!

  1. Inspect Garden

After weeding your beloved garden, be sure to check for invasive insects! Especially your vegetables.
