7 Home Decor Trends for Summer 2022

If updating any space in your home is on the radar this summer, then you’ll want to take note of these home decor trends for summer 2022. Every year a new round of seasonal colors and decor styles hit the markets and these are a few you don’t want to miss.

7 Home Decor Trends for Summer 2022

#1: It’s all about the paint.

Sometimes a simple paint job can make a world of difference in a space. This summer, there are a few paint trends to know about. For starters, painting the floor is becoming increasingly popular. The top design blogs suggest that painting patterns like checkerboard and stripes are a the thing, but regardless of what you choose, don’t forget the painter’s tape.

If you’re looking for a paint color of the season, cool blues are in. Think of shades such as aqua or baby blue. These tones offer a bright and airy feel while easily accommodating just about any decor style. These are also colors that can make for some pretty eclectic spaces.

Experimenting with paint color also took a different turn this year. Instead of painting an accent wall or doing all the walls the same color, designer suggest using a picture rail to paint the top half of a wall a different color than the bottom half. Greys and whites seem to be ideal for this trick.

#2: Incorporating stone material.

This is a decor trend that you can go big or go small with. Whether you choose to use a small marble statue for your coffee table centerpiece or large stone end tables, this is a material that stands out. There are lots of ways to play around with the idea of incorporating stone into your decor style. If you are a little hesitant, start with small stone coasters.

#3: Add some curves.

Curvy furniture and art pieces are making their rounds again in the world of interior design. They somewhat phased out once straight and boxed came into the picture, but they’re back! You can add curves in any space through the type of furniture you choose, painting curves on the wall, or adding curves through small accessories and decorative pieces.

#4: Try a little luxury.

This doesn’t mean spending thousands of dollars on a new wall unit or complete gut and remodel. Instead, adding a bit of luxury can be done through a unique looking chandelier, exchanging cabinet handles, or by adding an inexpensive built-in unit purchased from Ikea. There are a number of ways you can add a little bit of luxury that can change the entire look of a space.

#5: Include more plants.

Since plants already have an outdoorsy feel, you can’t go wrong by adding more of them in a specific space. Don’t worry if your green thumb is brown. You can purchase a number of faux plants and greenery or make your own. The overall idea is to inspire a natural feel in a way that easily compliments any space.

#6: Keep it natural.

Somewhat similar to the natural feel plants offer, you can also keep it natural with other elements such as rattan, jute, and burlap. These can easily be brought out in furniture like a rattan chair or ottoman or in a throw rug. Bamboo furniture pieces are also ideal for this style. Burlap is a texture that is easy to bring out in wreaths or other wall decor pieces.

#7: Get creative.

The last home decor trend idea for this summer involves getting creative with your own style. If you like big bold colors, go for it. Want to mix and match furniture pieces, do it. There truly are no right or wrong ways to decorate a space. At the end of the day it needs to be something you are proud of.
